Chalukya & Rashtrakoot dynasty ruled this region.During Chalukya regime near Harishchandragad fort the caves & temples were built. In the year 1490 Malik Ahamad shah took charge and established Ahmadnagar as capital & the fort was built.During tha time Ahamadnagar had the status like Kairo ,Bagdad. Queen Chandbibi fought against the offender Mughals, Also Jawaharlal Nehru,Saradar Vaillabhbhai Patel,and others were prisoners in this fort during freedom struggle.Hence it is having historical significanceRivers Seena Pravara,Bhima Mula & Godavari have played a great role in the civilization of this district.Siddhatek Ganapati temple, Sonai, Nighoj Mohotadevi, Rashin are piligrim centers.Mahadev temples at Dongargan,Pravara sangam,Vruddheshwar are worth to see. Pimpalgaon Roth for Khandoba ,and Shani shingnapur are places to visit. Madhi, Vruddheshwar Gorakshakgadh of Navnath are centers of inspiration. Randha water fall at Bhandaradara, Bahadurgad, Ahamadnagar, Harishchandragad, Kharda forts are worth to see.Now a days Chondi,Raleganshindi are places to visit. Kalasubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra,also Kalsubai Rehekuri ,Maldhok are well known for wild life sanctuary. Nighoj,Rashin ,Newasa are geogrophical wonders to see & study.Tank museum a establishment of military is the center of attraction. IN SHORT AHAMADNAGAR IS THE DISTRICT OF LONG LEGACY OF HISTORY.
